This qualification provides a trade outcome in painting and decorating for residential and commercial construction work.
Occupational titles may include:
- Painter and Decorator.
Licensing, legislative and regulatory or certification requirements for painting and decorating work differ between States and Territories. Please consult with the relevant regulatory authority.
This qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway.
Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.

Pathways into the qualification
Individuals may enter Certificate III in Painting and Decorating with limited or no vocational experience and without a lower-level qualification.
Pathways from the qualification
After achieving the CPC30620 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating, individuals could progress to Certificate IV or Diploma Qualifications in Building or Civil Construction.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites required to enter the CPC30620 – Certificate III in Painting and Decorating course. However, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

Academic Requirement
• Have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification in related fields of study and 3 years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise. OR
• Have completed a Bachelor degree in related fields of study and 2 years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise. OR
• Have five years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience at a significant level of leadership and management responsibility and/or complexity in an enterprise.
Age Requirement
All applicants must be aged 18 years or over at the time of applying for admission to the course.
Language, Literacy, Numeracy (LLN) and Digital Literacy test
All students enrolling in a VET course at Winslow College are required to undertake a Language, Literacy, Numeracy (LLN) and Digital Literacy test to identify their capabilities prior to signing the Letter of Offer (LOO). The outcome enables the trainers and Student Support Staff to identify the learning and digital needs and make provisions for additional academic support where required.

Applicants should have proficiency in digital literacy and MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). They should also have their own personal computer with a minimum configuration of:
